The Last Laugh
A portrait of the Joker, caught in his most iconic moment of release: head thrown back, eyes closed, the smeared red smile finally his own.
The piece begins as poured layers of deep teal, turquoise and gold that run freely down the canvas. Out of that chaos, the Joker emerges in thick, expressive strokes of white, ochre and charcoal, his wild hair breaking apart into the background. Crimson bleeds from the iconic painted smile and drips back down into the abstract base, so the character and the chaos become one.
It’s a study of cinema’s most famous outsider: the mask, the madness and the strange freedom of letting go. Up close, it’s all texture and movement. Step back, and the face comes into focus.
