Light Me Up explores the contrast between Audrey Hepburn’s timeless elegance and the explosive energy of colour, texture and flame. The painting begins with a base of neon colours, creating a vibrant, glowing surface that immediately draws the eye.
 
Layers of stencilling are then introduced, adding structure and graphic elements while allowing the neon colours to break through and interact with the portrait.
 
To build the sense of movement and heat, wood has been incorporated into the work to mimic smoke and flames. Its raw, tactile quality creates a strong physical texture across the surface, making the flames feel as though they are rising from the painting. 
 
The title Light Me Up reflects both the visual intensity of the piece and the idea of Audrey herself becoming illuminated within the layers of colour and texture.
